This Privacy Policy explains how the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association (“Rio Grande Valley Builders Association”, “we”, “us”) handles your information when you use the RGVBA Parade of Homes mobile application (the “App”). By creating an account and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the App:
- Account information — your email address (used to sign in via a one-time code), your first and last name, an optional phone number, and the date you accepted these terms.
- Event activity — the parade homes you check in to (by scanning the QR code at each home) and the time of each check-in, the homes you mark as favorites, and the home you vote for.
- Push notification token — if you allow notifications, a device token used to deliver event announcements.
Information we do not collect or store
- Location — if you grant location access, your position is used only on your device to show where you are on the parade map. We do not collect or store your location.
- Camera — the camera is used solely to scan QR codes at parade homes. We do not store photos or video.
- We do not collect payment information, and we do not sell your data.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and maintain your account.
- To record which homes you have visited and track prize-drawing eligibility.
- To record your favorites and your vote for your favorite home.
- To send event-related push notifications, if you opt in.
- To let the builder of a home you engaged with follow up with you, as described below.
How we share your information
The Parade of Homes is run together with participating builders, and each builder receives a report of who engaged with their own homes.
- With the builder of a home you engaged with — when you check in to a home, mark it as a favorite, or vote for it, we share your name, email address, phone number (if you gave us one), and that activity with the builder of that home, so they can follow up with you about it.
- We share this only with the builder of a home you actually engaged with. No builder sees activity for another builder’s homes, and no one who is not a participating builder receives your information.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising or for any other purpose.
If you would rather your information not be shared this way, use Delete My Activity in the App’s Settings to remove your check-ins, favorites and vote, or contact us at the address below.
Service providers
We use a small number of service providers to run the App. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- A self-hosted database and authentication service that stores your account and event activity.
- An email delivery provider, to send your one-time sign-in codes.
- Expo’s push notification service, to deliver notifications to your device.
- Apple Maps and Google Maps, to display the parade map.
Data retention and deletion
You are in control of your data. Within the App’s Settings you can:
- Reset App — sign out and clear locally cached data on your device.
- Delete My Activity — permanently delete your check-ins, favorites, votes, and notification token.
- Delete My Account — permanently delete your account and all associated data.
These deletions are immediate and cannot be undone. You may also request deletion by emailing us at the address below.
Children’s privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
